More Manulife Harassment!!
In an unbelievably gross overstated abuse of their authority the bosses agent of evil, Manulife Financial, have been dismissing supplied medical at an unprecedented rate. To begin, it’s important to note that Manulife is NOT a signatory of our Collective Agreement with Canada Post and should have no say in the application of our rights despite their arrogant belief that we all have an obligation to adhere to the opinions of a “case manager” without question.
In support of Moya Greene’s attack on the Contractual rights of sick and injured workers, Manulife has stepped up their “non support” of medical information provide by a workers Doctor and are informing workers they may initiate and “appeal” or “case escalation” with Manulife AT THE WORKERS EXPENSE if they disagree. Otherwise they are being told they must IGNORE THEIR DOCTOR and comply with Manulife!!! That is
ridiculous, reckless and illegal!!
There is no “disability program” or “case escalation/appeal” process to said program in our Collective Agreement! Whenever the boss has concerns/questions/doubts surrounding provided medical 33.10 of the Collective Agreement is the ONLY process they may enact at their expense, not yours!
To make matters worse these “case managers” don’t clarify their doubts! They must think we’re all psychic! It’s a ridiculous and clearly harassing process!!!
Furthermore, a Manulife “case manager” is NOT qualified to dispute the professional medical opinion of a licensed practioner. Nor are they attaching the professional opinion of someone with more qualifications then a pencil pushing bureaucrat with a ruthless insurance company hell bent on furthering the shameful tactics of a company more obsessed with profits then the well being of workers.
As such it’s important everyone grieve all correspondence from Manulife. If they attempt to engage you in a discussion at home inform them to put their questions or concerns in writing so you may have an opportunity to consult with your Union rep on how to proceed. If Manulife insists on speaking with you inform them of your hours of work so a conference call may be arranged with Union representation present.
Do not give in to pathetic attempts at intimidation or
disgusting and shameful threats!!!
In addition to filing grievances you also have the right to file a complaint with the Canadian Human Rights Commission, the Fair Practices Commission, your Member of Parliament and encourage your Doctor to pursue every legal means at their disposal challenging the unsupported opinions of unqualified, Manulife “case managers” who disregard and refute their professional medical opinion.
Phoney smiles and hollow promises from Moya Greene don’t disguise the daily truth!! Management has nothing but contempt for us and view each worker as an impediment to profitability rather than their greatest asset.
The National Arbitration dealing with Manulife is in the closing phase and we will hopefully have a decision supporting our Collective Agreement rights. Until that time keep challenging the boss and Manulife by insisting on Union representation in all dealings and grieving the Manulife process.
