2009.01.21 - Upcoming Jeff Halper Tour Comes to Hamilton
Jeff Halper of the Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions (www.icahd.org') will be speaking in eight Canadian cities later this month. His tour is being coordinated by Independent Jewish Voices - Canada.
Halper is an Israeli peace activist who founded the Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions. He is an author and organizer and was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. Halper's analysis of the Israeli "Matrix of Control" in the West Bank and his conceptualization of the warehousing of Palestinians as "surplus humanity" have contributed significantly to the understanding of the Israeli Occupation. Halper was recently on the first freedom boat into Gaza, attempting to break the on-going Israeli siege of Gaza.
