2015.04.17 - NDP Supports Fight Back

NDP Supports Fight Back

April 17, 2015

Hamilton Local 548 Acting President Terry Langley, Acting First Vice- President Anibal Borges, and Secretary-Treasurer Sophie Kruk met with Hamilton Centre NDP MP David Christopherson on Friday April 17th. The discussion centered around Canada Post’s decision to eliminate door to door mail service. Mr. Christopherson was apprised of the steps the Local has taken with the Fight Back Campaign, and we provided Mr. Christopherson with information packages to be distributed. In turn, David informed us of the NDP’s position regarding the elimination of door to door-essentially the NDP would put a moratorium on the CMB conversions, and open dialogue with the Canadian public with regards to future of Canada Post. Mr. Christopherson then reiterated that the NDP are 100% against the conversion to CMBs, and offered any support he could provide in our struggle.

The Local would like to thank all 3 of the NDP MPs in the Hamilton area-Wayne Marston, David Christopherson, and Chris Charlton for their unfailing support of CUPW, and the struggle to maintain door to door mail service.
